    Our fan base uses Gregg hate to mask our players mistakes and poor play. GGG deserves most of the blame since he is a slave to Plan A and will only change pieces not going to a plan B. Yesterday he was much more pragmatic, and the players actually brought a hunger and intensity. Until GGG can make changes on the fly we will always look good if plan A works, but if it doesn’t anyone can beat us. GGG needs to utilize our 9 and stop being so extended and not connected with our midfield. Our players need more pressure on them. We as fans need to stop only placing blame on the coach. Still way too many giveaways in bad positions leading to big chances.

    Only "wrong" point about him is that he will not be in the firts Bundesliga next year, but will be in the Premier League with Brighton. But this was not clear at the time you pubblished the video. Too bad for german soccer not having the chance to see gis team. He renew his contract just few days before be contacted from Bighton (... or was this a great chess like move?). Brighton paid 10M to free him from St. Pauli, making this the highest amount the team got in trading. And not for a player (this is 5M) but for a manager! 😉

    Pepi put in a hustle shift as Gregg still doesn't know how to use a striker....to score goals. Same with Gio. Which, get back to your point and others, on a fundamental level, Berhalter doesn't know how maximize talent. Credit Reyna and Pepi for buying into the game plan by essentially back-checking on defense. Still, I'm not sure Pepi had a shot all night long.

    I think another highly important takeaway is that every Concacaf team played MUCH better in their second friendlies. Nations League has a huge impact on our ability to compete at the highest level. Sure it’s great for European countries because the continent is loaded with talent and Nations League is much better World Cup preparation”than random “meaningless friendlies. But we’re playing Grenada and Cuba. When we come up against quality teams we look shell shocked. I wish we could go back to meaningless” friendlies during international breaks. A low stakes friendly against Spain’s B team is still way better preparation than a meaningful game against Guatemala.

    It was a better performance, that's undeniable. As for GB out, I don't think it was the right decision to rehire him, I'm not a fan of 2 cycle coaches at the international level. Personally, I would've hired Hugo Perez, cause he had El Salvador playing more than the sum of their parts - which is what we need. GB is an average coach, he gets this player pool to meet minimum expectations (dominate CONCACAF and get out of the Group Stage at WCs) but rarely exceed expectations. His system requires archetype players, which works in a club setting but not at an international level. Further, the slow plodding buildups in attack do not produce results against better national teams. I believe we'll see more of the same at Copa that we have always seen. They'll get results against Bolivia and Panama, maybe get something against Uruguay than lose in the QFs. That being said, I do think the fanbase has an inflated opinion of how good our player pool really is. I think much of our fanbase thinks we have a great set of players held back by a bad manager. I wholeheartedly disagree - we have a talented but wildly inconsistent (at club and international level) player pool who are coached by an average manager. Even if US Soccer fired GB tomorrow, the chances they'd find and hire a manager who is any better are slim and we'd see the same problems - with different tactics but same results..... a collection of players who cannot maintain fitness and collectively put together a string of good performances.

    Playing through the midfield is critical to success, and there’s a huge positive psychological and competitive component that is born out of finding success with it when you know the opponent is trying their hardest to deny it. While he wasn’t perfect, Musah did a great job of actively seeking pockets deep in our defensive third, forcing defenders to collapse and creating windows to allow unlocking passes to the wide channels. It requires bravery, endurance, and clean/quick technique. We have a lot of talent in the middle of the pitch. We need to prioritize and showcase it, and find creative ways to ensure that it is being utilized to the fullest. But it never needs to be complicated. Give the players free license to perform and create. In return, simply hold them accountable for their fitness, focus, and effort. It’s a fairly straightforward transaction.

    No other nation on earth would celebrate their national team coach actually utilizing tactics on a bare minimum level. Berhalter got a mid result against a good team today, but it doesn't change the fact that he has single handedly set back mens soccer in this country by 20 years at least. He's wasted the most talented generation we're likely to see in a long long while, easily the most talented generation in national team history. Genuinely one of if not the very worst national team coaches of all time for any nation in any sport.

    So does this one game change everything? Honestly it just pisses me off. First off, we have watched 5 years of these uninspired types of games with poor play and management. And as for ALL of these players they play entitled. None of them fears for their position. And that goes for Gregg too. A bit of fear for your job is a pretty good motivator.JMHO

  • @KenDaKingArrives
    @KenDaKingArrives 2 дні тому

    I don't care, Gregg still needs to go, at least after the Copa. 5 years is too long for a coach at this level to learn one simple thing at a time, what with the world cup 2 years away and we are at risk of throwing the Copa America away too (if he regresses after this).

    The keys for righting the ship are simple: 1) Put your players in a position that aligns with their strengths and 2) Adapt your tactics to the opposition. Shifting from a mid-block to a low-block kept Brazil from totally running over us but I would have liked to have seen a more dangerous transition game via lethal counters. May be better to start Balogun in the future if this is the plan going forward. But the performance was leaps and bounds better than the Columbia. There was no place to go but up. We need to see this type of intensity and tactical astuteness more consistently. But will Gregg change for the better and break his bad habits? I'm still skeptical.

    What I learned is this: When the guys are up for it, they can match anyone. Weah taking people 1 on 1 is not a good idea. Way too many turn overs and him having to track back to defend with Jr. attacking on his side was not smart. He needed help. Center Backs need more depth. We're razor thin at depth. Turner needed this game for confidence but also to show he can't be cute with the ball. Our attack can give ANY team problems. HUGE change from 10 years ago when you crossed your fingers for a goal. Midfield continues to be our strong spot. Needs to learn how to get our striker involved more to put pressure on the back line.

    0:35 Excellent. When you're about to enter the TEST or the official Competition, it's not time to change anything unless you either have to or you 're certain of the outcome of the change. You also have to be reminded that some coaches some times.. they choose to let the players under perform. There are benefits from this. I'm not saying that's what Gregg did, I have no idea... but this is a real thing that winning coaches choose to do. Sometimes it doesn't work, so let's wait until after the end of Copa America. But, the US Soccer FED must be ready to pull the trigger as you will not have a lots of time for 2026 You have to do both, TRUST Gregg and be ready for a Change. No need to create negative atmosphere around the players and the USMNT. Let everyone know they have two important Tests and let them work.
